according to abc newsonline, marines in iraq have been given a mini-prayer book called “A Christian’s Duty” that includes a tear-out section to be mailed to the White House showing that the soldier pledges he or she has been praying for the president. sunday’s prayer was “Pray that the President and his advisers will seek God and his wisdom daily and not rely on their own understanding”. today’s prayer is “Pray that the President and his advisers will be strong and courageous to do what is right regardless of critics”.
whatever happened to the separation of church and state? and isn’t it a bit twisted to have soldiers on the frontline praying for the guy who’s sitting safe? that said, if they are going to pray for something, praying for the president to not rely on his own understanding is not a bad place to start.
